The event at Colosseum #HUMANLANDS – Eternal Evolution

A cameo of just 30 minutes, tells the values of Rome’s candidacy. The eternal evolution of the city of Rome, but even more, the need to put humanity at the centre of the conversation. For this reason, the title of the event is Humanlands.
A performance full of wonders: a pas de deux by a mother and daughter, a choir of 100 children representing the 15 municipalities of Rome, and finally, a multimedia show of video mapping and drones that catches the Colosseum and the sky above the Flavian Amphitheatre as protagonists of a never-before-seen show. And as the host, Gaia, the little girl from Rome, represents the earth and her desire for humanity and evolution.

On April 21, the Promoter Committee for EXPO 2030 organized an event entitled “Humanlands – Eternal Evolution” at the “Parco Archeologico del Colosseo” during the inspection visit of the Bureau International des Expositions, featuring music, artistic performances, light shows and drones, with the participation of Eleonora Abbagnato, Malika Ayane and Dardust.

The event, which will take place on the Terrazza di Venere at the Imperial Forums, will open with the notes of “Volare” by Domenico Modugno, performed by the extraordinary voice of Malika Ayane, followed by the performance of Eleonora Abbagnato, Étoile of the Opéra National de Paris and Director of the Ballet Company of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, who will be the protagonist of an exciting pas de deux with her daughter Julia Balzaretti. The two choreographers and dancers Sasha Riva and Simone Repele will also follow them in this original choreography, set to the music of the pianist and composer Dardust.

At the end of the performance, the story moves from the Colosseum to Tor Vergata: a “bridge of light” will connect the centre of Rome with the Vela di Calatrava, the location chosen for the EXPO 2030 project. To accompany the light show, a choir of 100 children from schools of Rome will sing Giuseppe Verdi’s “Va Pensiero” with a contemporary arrangement directed by Maestro Stefano Barzan.
After this singing performance, a live showcase is scheduled featuring the performances of Malika Ayane and composer Dardust, who will perform some of the singer’s most famous songs, accompanied by the aerial performance of Molecole.

The show continues with a multimedia performance featuring 500 drones (with the authorization and technical supervision of ENAC) and a video mapping of the Colosseum, which will tell the fundamental themes of Rome’s candidacy for EXPO 2030 through geometries, abstractions, light games, images, and words, accompanied by live music from Dardust and the Sunset Strings Quintet.

Inclusion, culture, innovation, freedom, and diversity will guide the show at the Colosseum, a symbol of an eternal identity in constant evolution, a bridge between past, present, and future. The evening will end with the choir of children from the music schools of Tor Vergata and Casilino, who will perform “Intermezzo” from Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana.

The show is created and produced by Filmmaster Events with EGA Worldwide and the creative direction of Alfredo Accatino and Francesco Minotti, the artistic direction and direction of Marco Boarino, and the executive production of Fabrizio Ceruso.
