EXPO IN ROME

THE REASONS FOR ROME'S EXPO 2030 CANDIDACY

As the only capital city in the European Union to be nominated for Expo 2030, Rome, throughout its almost three thousand years of development, has been capable of reinventing itself, to the point of earning itself the nickname of “the eternal city”.

Its roots, which lie in the continuous drive for innovation, art and integration between faiths and cultures, today become the new starting point towards a future of hospitality and liveability.

SYNERGY WITH THE 2025 JUBILEE

Rome has a unique opportunity to combine Expo 2030 with another world-class event: the 2025 Jubilee, which it is already preparing to host.

This is an important occasion for synergies in the realization of projects and functional infrastructures, ready to welcome millions of guests, thereby optimizing both costs and resources.

INCREASED VALUE FOR CENTRAL-SOUTHERN ITALY

Expo 2030 can relaunch the leading role of the territories and communities of Central and Southern Italy, attracting both new capital and national and international investments.

The two most recent Italian editions of the event were held in the north of the peninsula: Genoa in 1992 and Milan in 2015.

A DATE LONG IN THE MAKING

The capital of Italy has yet to host a World Expo. It was set to do so in 1942 and the EUR district was purpose built for the occasion.

However, with the outbreak of the Second World War, the event was cancelled.

PEOPLE AND TERRITORIES

URBAN REGENERATION, INCLUSION AND INNOVATION

The advent of the pandemic has led us to reassess the traditional idea of the city in favour of new spaces for creativity and sociality.

The new conception of the metropolis can be imagined as an archipelago of local and global networks where productive and environmental systems, cultural identities and tools for cooperation and inclusion are all interwoven.

An open debate which sees global institutions called upon to participate. In Rome, all participating countries will be able to make their own contribution in identifying the urban coexistence model of the future.

Transforming it from the cradle of civilization, which has spread the model of the city par excellence throughout the world, into an intelligent city, capable of combining the inestimable wealth of the past with an energetic drive towards the future and the challenges it holds.
