The Italian national football teams support Rome‘s bid for Expo 2030. In the decisive month leading up to the final vote scheduled in Paris on November 28, the Azzurre and Azzurri take the field, sharing the values of the candidacy of the Italian capital, in competition with Riyadh and Busan.

In an unexpected turn, President Gabriele Gravina expressed the full support of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), emphasizing in a support letter the themes around which to build projects engaging the football world, emphasizing its extraordinary capacity for unity.

It will be an opportunity to start imagining new territories tailored to humans and new relationships between us and our habitats (‘Humanlands’), sports must play a fundamental role in enriching the concept of “People and Territories” on which Rome’s candidacy is based.

In this perspective, the Italian Head of Delegation Gianluigi Buffon and the footballer Elena Linari, along with a large group of Azzurre, have created endorsement videos with the slogan #ISupportRomaExpo2030 on the uniqueness of the capital and its dossier. Furthermore, in the UEFA EURO 2024 qualification match against North Macedonia, to be held on November 17 in the capital itself, the Azzurri will take the field supporting Expo Roma 2030 with the transmission of messages on the LED screens and maxi screens of the Olympic Stadium.

“It’s time to score a goal together because you never win alone, you win all together,” said Buffon. “We support Roma Expo 2030 because we believe in its values of connection, humanity, and inclusion,” echoed the Azzurre in unison.
