Expo 2030 Roma Arrives at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris

From the 13th of June, the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris will host a one-month exhibition, dedicated to the Rome Expo 2030 candidacy, entitled: Rome, l’eternelle.

Twenty-two photographic shots that depict the best-known and most innovative aspects of the Capital, ranging from fashion to cinema, from major events to hospitality to the great architectural and technological innovation.

The initiative has been conceived to support Rome’s candidature to host Expo 2030 in the French capital on the occasion of the next BIE (Bureau International des Expositions) Assembly that will be held on the 20th of June, offering all visitors arriving at the Palais du Louvre, which is one of the most visited places in the world, an evocative vision of Rome, which has always been the protagonist of historical moments and important innovations.

The exhibition, positioned under the Louvre’s iconic inverted pyramid, is realised by the EXPO 2030 Roma Bid Committee, arranged by the ANSA Agency, and supported by the Italian Embassy in Paris, the Permanent Representation to the Unesco in Paris and the Expo Roma 2030 Foundation with the support of the Comité d’animation culturelle Paris1.

The inauguration in Paris will be attended by the Councillor for Culture of Roma Capitale Miguel Gotor, Ambassador Liborio Stellino, Permanent Representative to the UNESCO, Matteo Gatto, Technical Director of the Expo 2030 Roma Committee, with opening remarks by Marie Mauvage, Director of the Carrousel du Louvre.

The exhibition divides the story into three chapters: Expressiveness, Inclusion, Modern and Ancient.

The first chapter – Expressiveness – is the visual narrative that begins from the world of cinema: from the shots of the dolce vita and the stars of the 1950s, to the great sporting events – with the 1960 Olympic Games set alongside the golf fields that will host the next Ryder Cup 2023, to the great concerts hosted in the great spaces of the Circus Maximus and the Imperial Forums, to the world of fashion in which Rome has always been a protagonist with great brands that wrote the history.

The second chapter – dedicated to Inclusion – highlights some of the different aspects of Rome’s great capacity for welcome and integration: from hospitality to the millions of pilgrims coming for religious events to the places of prayer of the different religions, to the traditional Christmas lunch organised by the Community of Sant’Egidio, to the scenes of daily life of young and old in the streets of Rome.

The third chapter, Modern and Ancient, juxtaposes yesterday’s and today’s encounters between the great Heads of State that have taken place in the capital with images of Rome as an open-air museum: from the Imperial Forum to the Colosseum to the Nuvola (Cloud), past and future coexist in the unicity of Rome’s monuments and squares, with both Roman and most innovative architecture.
