The eternal city has always been a capital of art, culture, dialogue and creativity and is the embodiment of constant regeneration and reinvention. Partly this stems from the spirit of its people and partly from its geostrategic location, that were both significant in its ancient power and current relevance.

Tor Vergata lends itself as an ideal place to build innovative regeneration based on social inclusion and community action and the reimagining and nurturing of environments, corresponding to People and Territories, the central themes of Expo.

Expo 2030 Roma will make effort to look at our lands and communities in new ways and showing how the regeneration of Tor Vergata, a challenged part of Rome, into a green and sustainable community can serve as a universal model to be scaled up globally. Regeneration goes way beyond architecture or infrastructure works, it celebrates any and every aspect of rediscovery, reinvention and rebirth.

Regeneration will come to life in the shape of the Tor Vergata campus, refurbished into a 21st century knowledge centre thanks to innovative energy production, transport and architectural models.

The Post-Expo legacy centres on regenerating Territories (both urban and rural) by connecting and empowering their Communities. This vision centres on a collaborative and highly devolved model of community actions, in which local inhabitants and stakeholders unite to co-manage “collectively governed resources”, including public spaces, shared assets, services and even entire neighbourhoods.

Post-Expo, Roma 2030 aims to extend Regeneration beyond mere reclamation based on an ‘urban construction’ approach, to promote activities rooted in local context that integrate social action with innovation.
